Sometime in the past two years, I’ve stopped buying vegetable oil. I didn’t realize this until my husband was searching for some to bake treats for Christmas and we noticed the expiration date from a very long time ago. What alternatives did I have to offer him? Extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil.
With this, I couldn’t explain to him exactly why I was only buying olive and coconut oils instead of the more conventional (and inexpensive) vegetable and canola oils. I bought them because they were supposed to be healthier, but didn’t know why. These trendy oils had stumped me.
