As the weather cools and outdoor workouts become less feasible, it can be tempting to curl up on the couch with a bowl of comfort food and forgo exercising altogether. But don’t let the dropping temps keep you from breaking a sweat. With a bevy of new DVDs hitting shelves this fall, getting in a quality – and inexpensive – workout is as easy as pressing play. Here’s a list of some of our faves.

Yoga for Belly, Butt and Thighs with Chrissy Carter (September 2)

So you thought yoga was just for relaxing and entering a “zen” state of mind? Think again. With the new DVD from the senior instructor at Yoga Works in New York City, the ancient practice is now, officially, an awesome way to get seriously toned. Carter’s workout is also the first isolating yoga program, which means women can finally target their most troublesome body parts – and in 20 minutes a day, no less.

Leslie Sansone Just Walk: Mix and Match Walk Blasters (August 26)

It’s been proven that simple walking is one of the safest, easiest and most effective workouts available, but if shorter days and falling leaves do little to inspire you to lace up those New Balances, take heart: Leslie Sansone has the perfect (indoor) solution.

The newest DVD from America’s #1 Walking Expert features a series of ten 10-minute workouts. With over 100 minutes of walking on one disc (broken into units like Tummy Trimmer!; Walk, Kick and Jab! and Dance Walk!), viewers can easily customize the program length and style that most fits their mood and available time.

Billy Blanks Tae Bo Platinum Collection (August 26)

Since uppercutting his way onto the fitness scene in 1998, Billy Blanks has continued to revolutionize the kickboxing space. And now, with his Platinum Collection, the incredibly ripped 58-year-old is providing a high-energy, highly effective workout that is sure to leave both new and old Tae Bo fans drenched in sweat. An added bonus: Unlike previous Tae Bo programs that required the purchase of multiple DVDs, Blanks’ newest offering features four full-length workouts on one disc, for a total of 258 minutes of Tae Bo priced under $15.

GROOV3 (August 23)

GROOV3

If summoning the will to work out takes nothing short of a divine miracle, consider GROOV3 your heavenly blessing. Designed by dance-fitness expert and celebrity choreographer Benjamin Allen, GROOV3 is dubbed as the “newest way to get your sweat on” and incorporates the hottest dance moves that will (almost) make you forget you’re exercising. Got two left feet? No problem. Allen formatted the program specifically for non-professionals and insists that his target market is “those who love to dance, those who love to sweat and those who want to live a happier life.”

Power Pilates: Ultimate Core Workout with Carrie Campbell (late August)

DVD PowerPilates

Just because it’s no longer bikini season doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep your tummy toned, and few workouts are as effective in doing that as pilates. The system of controlled movements is known for improving flexibility and building strength while sculpting long, lean muscles – provided you can keep up with the movements, that is. Now, thanks to the new Power Pilates DVD, pilates fans of all levels can get an effective burn on one disc. With three workouts (beginner, intermediate and advanced) ranging from 20 to 30 minutes in length, you can work your way through the program based on your progress or choose a routine that caters to your energy level.

The 20 Minute Body (August 20)

Short on time? No matter, since Brett Hoebel, celebrity trainer from season 11 of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, says you can squeeze in an effective, total-body workout in just 20 minutes a day. Developed for busy men and women – with an emphasis on women and new moms with limited time to work out – The 20 Minute Body features various 20-minute, interval-style workouts (including the 4×4, HITTMAN, Double Trouble and BPS) to ensure maximum efficiency and blast boredom. Each program is represented by a different color within the system, allowing people to easily determine which workout corresponds with each day. The total 20 Minute Body system is spread across 11 DVDs and costs $74, but if you’re desperate for a program that you can do in less time than it takes to blow dry your hair, it just may be worth it.
