Pesto is a wildly versatile blend of fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil and parmesan cheese. An excellent topping for meat, fish, poultry, and vegetables (not to mention a great dip and sandwich spread), pesto doesn't have to be limited to the basics. Sure, basil is delicious and traditional, but alternate fresh herbs and nuts can create mouthwatering variations in a snap. Plus, the addition of broth to cut back on oil lightens our recipes. Pesto, please!

Sage, pecans and blue cheese combine in this flavorful pesto, making it an excellent complement to grilled and roasted steak, pork, chicken, or turkey.
The hints of ginger and coconut make this fresh pesto an excellent, light topping that doubles as a dip. Pair it with chicken, pork, steak, fish, or shellfish.
Wondering what to do with those carrot tops? They lend a wonderful, fresh flavor to this buttery pesto (thanks to cashew pieces). Serve it over chicken, fish, steak, and pork, or as a dip with vegetables and crackers.
