Beware High Salt Content!

Results from a Northwestern Medicine study published in the May 13 JAMA Internal Medicine show that despite the recommendations by various health agencies for processed food manufacturers and fast food companies to reduce salt levels in their foods, levels remain dangerously high and unhealthy for consumers.  In fact, the study revealed that salt levels are as high as they’ve ever been, proving that a voluntary call for action is ineffective.

Statistics show that approximately 90 percent of the U.S. population has high blood pressure, which is largely attributed to high salt intake. If you’re concerned about your salt intake, it’s important to adopt a low-sodium diet and be on the lookout for these salty suspects!
