It’s hard enough to fend off the munchies when you’re awake—what if you were tempted to binge in your sleep, too? That’s a reality for Lesley Cusack, 55, a UK-based mom of three who suffers from a sleep-eating disorder. It’s a problem she’s battled for 30 years, she says, and she’s been known to consume up to 2,500 calories in her sleep, which has made keeping her weight in check nearly impossible. But recently the condition has become even more dangerous, as she awoke one night to find she’d eaten paint. On a recent binge, she broke two teeth, and during another episode she found herself outside raiding the freezer in her shed. Cusack is now seeking treatment with a sleep specialist.
