Type 1

  • Affects mostly kids and young adults
  • The body doesn’t produce insulin at all
  • Only 5% of people with diabetes have this type

Type 2

  • Is preventable
  • The body produces insufficient insulin or doesn’t process it correctly

Prediabetes

  • Affects 79 million Americans
  • Occurs when blood sugar levels are higher than normal
  • May become Type 2 without lifestyle changes
