August 1 is National Girlfriends Day—but any time’s the right time for a girls’ night out. Instead of dinner and drinks, try one of these healthier outings.
- Go back to class. Take a cue from former Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders, who loves to hit a yoga class with her friends before dining out. “Fifteen minutes in, I’m already thinking about what I’m going to order for dinner, but that’s OK!” she says.
- Give together. Stop to donate blood, plasma or platelets before hitting the frozen yogurt stand. Or search for needle-free opportunities to give back at VolunteerMatch.org.
- Celebrate the harvest. Ask each of your friends to bring fruits, veggies or herbs from their gardens. Toss with some leafy greens, grill some fish or chicken and top with a healthy homemade dressing.
