Hair Pro: Lisa Abbey, Artistic Director at Salon Blue in Mineola, New York

Favorite Styling Tool: An ionic blowdryer. This type of dryer uses a combination of heat and ion therapy (rather than heat only) to neutralize the negative ions in wet hair, resulting in less damage, faster drying time and more shine and bounce. (One to try: Conair Infiniti Pro, $34.99, drugstore.com.)

Favorite Shampoo: Kerastase Chroma Sensitive ($42, kerastase-usa.com). “Too many shampoos strip color, dehydrate strands and make hair brittle, but this cleansing balm leaves chemically treated as well as natural hair soft, supple and shiny.”

Favorite Conditioner: KMS California Moist Repair Leave-In Conditioner ($12.69, sleekhair.com). This conditioner is great for fine or limp hair. It’s super hydrating, reducing brittleness and creating more movement.

Favorite Styling Product: A shine serum. “Everyone can use more shine! There are plenty of shine serums on the market today; try using a lighter, less oily formula on fine hair and a heavier, oil-based version to tame thick, coarse or unruly hair.” (Try Dove Style + Care Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum, $4.89, drugstore.com, for fine hair and Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum, $5.99, soap.com, for thicker hair.)

Favorite Brush: Olivia Garden NanoThermic Ceramic + Ion Brushes ($17.35 to $32.45, oliviagarden.com). Available in seven shapes and sizes, there’s a perfect brush for every hair type and style.

Favorite Styling Tip: “Clean the lint trap on your blow dryer weekly to prolong the life of the dryer and to prevent it from getting overly hot and damaging your hair.”

Hair Pro: Natasha Sunshine, Pureology Colour Care Ambassador and Owner of Byu-ti Hair Therapy Salon in Santa Monica, CA

Favorite Tool: A large curling iron. “It can take almost any hairstyle from good to great—and fast!” (One to try: Remington Keratin Therapy Curling Iron 1.5″, $29.99, target.com).

Favorite Shampoo: Pureology Hydrate Shampoo ($27, pureology.com). A favorite for all hair types. It delivers incredible moisture and shine without weighing hair down.

Favorite Conditioner: Pureology Hydrate Condition ($27, pureology.com). It’s so incredibly rich on the hair and has such great results that it’s like using a masque, but it’s a daily conditioner.

Favorite Styling Product: Pureology ColourStylist Strengthening Control Zero Dulling Hairspray ($24, pureology.com). “I’m really into hair dressing right now, meaning high style, high glamour hair. To get a great set, beautiful updo or even loose curls, I use this hairspray because it gives amazing brilliance to the hair and a workable hold so the hair isn’t crunchy, yet it still lasts through the evening.”

Favorite Brush: Angelo David Paddle Brush ($55, angelodavid.com). You can brush through curls to get a great shine and the curl will bounce right back without going flat.

Favorite Styling Tip: If you want a quick way to pull your hair up, try the Goody Simple Styles Spin Hair Pin ($6.29, walgreens.com). It’s great for speedy up do’s.

Hair Pro: Jet Rhys, celebrity stylist and owner of Jet Rhys Salon in San Diego, California

Favorite Tool: CHI Pro Hair Dryer GF 1505 ($89, drugstore.com). “I think it is very important that every woman owns a quality blowdryer. If you buy a cheap one at the drugstore you are not only going to replace it every 6 months to a year, you are risking the health of your hair.” Professional dryers provide the right amount of heat and power to effectively dry and style hair without damage. And may professional dryers are affordable and accessible to the public.

Favorite Shampoo: Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo ($23, bumbleandbumble.com). “I absolutely love this shampoo. It is amazing for color protection and adds so much moisture and shine to processed hair.” The mellow smell and creamy consistency make it a must have for anyone in the family (colored or not).

Favorite Conditioner: Davines Nou Nou Conditioner ($26, barneys.com). “I swear by this product. What amazes me most is the UV filters that protect hair from sun damage and fading—like sunscreen for hair!”

Favorite Styling Product: Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion ($25, bumbleandbumble.com. “I have always used this as my go-to product for any hair type.” Is it a light-medium hold spray with protein that works best on damp hair and can be layered to add more hold and volume. For added root lift, apply all over your head at the roots only and blow dry with your head flipped upside down.

Favorite Brush: Conair Pocket Comb ($2.99, cvs.com). A good quality rubber comb like this one helps distribute product throughout your hair evenly after application and can also be used to section and control hair while curling or straightening.

Favorite Styling Tip: “I find that some clients struggle with static throughout the year, especially in drier climates. I found a fabric spray in the travel section of Target (Static Guard) that is perfect for taming fly aways. After you style, spray a light layer from about 12 inches away then pat down any rogue hairs. Bonus: It fits perfectly in your purse!”

Hair Pro: Ricardo Rojas, celebrity stylist and owner of the Ricardo Rojas Salon in New York City, NY

Favorite Tool: BaByliss Pro Professional Porcelain Ceramic Curling Iron ($49.95, folica.com). “BaByliss tools are great because they offer the perfect heat settings. This curling iron can be used to bring out your most fun, bouncy looking hair.”

Favorite Shampoo: Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color ($36, barneys.com). “It is the best for keeping vitality and shine in color-treated hair.”

Favorite Conditioner: Wella Enrich Moisturizing Conditioner ($16, amazon.com). This conditioner provides moisture and keeps texture all different types of hair.

Favorite Styling Product: L’Oreal Elnett StrongHold Hairspray ($12.99, target.com). “It gives hair amazing texture and great movement and it never makes hair look sticky or greasy.”

Favorite Brush: Ricardo Rojas Tango Brush ($95, ricardorojassalon.com). “All women need to have an amazing, quality hair brush. Mine has the perfect mixture of nylon and boar bristles and is perfect for keeping hair soft and bringing out beautiful shine.”

Hair Pro: Cydney Cornell, Celebrity Hairstylist with the Cloutier Remix styling

Favorite Shampoo: Rene Furterer KARITE Intense Nourishing Shampoo ($23, dermstore.com). “Washing hair too often can dry your hair out and make it look unhealthy. I suggest shampooing with this wash every other day at the most.”

Favorite Conditioner: Rene Furterer KARITE Intense Nourishing Mask ($28, renefurterer.com). This helps to restore suppleness and softness to even the driest, most damaged hair types.

Favorite Styling Product: A waxy cream pomade. Pomade adds shine to hair, gets rid of the “dry look,” and makes flyaways a thing of the past. (One to try: Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Grooming Pomade, $15.49, amazon.com.)

Favorite Brush: A Mason Pearson Brush ($88 and up, beautybar.com). “A good brush is a necessity for every woman so a small Mason Pearson is a wonderful tool to have.”
