Do tell the pilot if you’re afraid of heights—he’ll be happy to answer any questions or allay anxieties.

Do pitch in and help set up and break down the balloon—it’s part of the experience and even a bit of a workout!

Don’t fly if you’re pregnant or have very limited mobility. Otherwise there aren’t typically any health restrictions, though the rules vary by ballooning company.

Do bring a camera to take photos from the balloon, but put it away for takeoff and landing.

Don’t drink too much water or coffee before your ride—there are no bathroom breaks!
