Sipping vegetable juice everyday may be one way to shed unwanted pounds, report experts from the University of California, Davis and Baylor College of Medicine. In the study, which was presented recently at the Experimental Biology convention in New Orleans, 81 overweight participants followed a calorie-controlled, low-sodium diet and were randomly assigned to drink 0,1, or 2 cups of low-sodium vegetable juice everyday for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, the dieters who drank at least eight ounces of juice everyday lost an average of four pounds, compared to just one pound shed by the no-juice group. Researchers think the veggie drink may help quell the appetite.
