Currently, this inscrutable, enigmatic disease has no known cure and few effective treatments. However, recent breakthrough research is putting promising new treatments—and the prospect of a cure—on the horizon.
“If finding the cause of schizophrenia is like solving a jigsaw puzzle, then these new results give us the corners and some of the pieces on the edges,” says Dr. Patrick F. Sullivan, a geneticist and co-author of the study.
