The results of a small University of South Carolina study may inspire you to munch fresh fruits and veggies before your next workout. After researchers gave college students quercetin, an antioxidant found in foods like red apples, berries, broccoli and green and black tea, they were able to ride a stationary bike longer than when they pedaled without the supplement. The researchers think quercetin may have an anti-inflammatory effect, relieving some of the fatigue that comes from exercise.
