Teva, Zirra, $70
These sporty-looking sandals are great for outdoor enthusiasts or busy moms on-the-go. Super lightweight and extremely comfortable, we could see ourselves strolling around in these sandals all day along with shorts and a casual tee. The sole is soft, padded and provides ample arch support, while the heels feature Shoc Pad™ technology for maximum shock absorption. As if that’s not enough, the shoes are formatted with Microban technology to keep them bacteria- and stink-free. The Zirras are also available in a number of fun, vibrant colors.
Spring Step, Sunbird, $49.99
Step out in style with these Grecian-inspired strappy sandals, which are both functional and fashionable (the best of both worlds!). These elegant gold-and-black sandals (available in a variety of colors) are comfortable enough for everyday wear or dressy enough for a special occasion. The sandals feature a slightly elevated heel with a comfortable rubber outsole, and the adjustable ankle strap ensures a snug, perfect fit.
Chaco, Royal Sandal, Knitted Regular, $90
Outdoor adventurers and poolside loungers alike will adore Chaco’s sporty Royal sandal. Ultra-light yet durable, these sandals provide ample arch support and a comfortable, padded foot bed without weighing the foot down. What’s more, the sandals feature a slip-resistant footbed and EcoTread rubber soles to ensure maximum traction during wet situations. Our tester described the shoes as “wearable and comfortable,” and liked that the toe loop and foot straps can be tightened for a more snug fit.
Birkenstock, Gizeh, Oiled Leather, $120
Stylish yet sporty, these sandals combine the legendary comfort of Birkenstock’s iconic cork footbed with fashionable touches such as a thin thong strap. These ergonomic, wear-anywhere sandals feature a roomy toebox, super-cushy padding and a contoured insole for all-day comfort. The oiled leather can dress up or dress down, and makes for a wonderful all-purpose summer sandal. “I love the texture and feel of the leather, and the fact that I can adjust the buckle,” our tester raved. “It was, straight out of the box, a very comfortable, secure-feeling sandal.”
Therafit, Tiffany Black Sandal, $79
These shoes bring some fun to a totally good-for-your-feet flip flop sandal. This sandal is full of thoughtful little touches: The leather uppers, for example, feature bejeweling that can dress up a casual sundress or dress down your Sunday best. The soles offer complete cushioning comfort and amazing arch support. But the best part about these shoes is their customizable heel support—three removable comfort adapters can be added or removed to adjust the amount of heel support the shoes provide.
Patagonia, Poli Knotty Sandal, $100
These delicately styled leather sandals are lined with glove-soft pigskin for optimal foot comfort. The sandal’s rich coral hue adds a feminine flair that makes them the perfect shoe for any occasion, whether you’re running errands or meeting friends for lunch. Sporty-yet-stylish, these sandals are easy to slip on and off, but the heel strap is secure enough to withstand prolonged activity. What’s more, the grippy rubber outsole provides good traction without looking too rugged. We did have one small complaint, though: The sandals were quite narrow overall, especially at the ball of the foot.
Birkenstock, Yara, $119.95
Fashioned with oiled leather straps and a suede lining, this all-purpose, sturdy sandal is perfect for day-to-day wear. The cork foot bed cradles your foot and criss-crossed leather straps secure the sandal to your ankle, so there’s no danger of stepping out of your sandal when you’re in a rush. The sandal does not have much cushioning, but the contoured cork sole cups your heel and molds to the shape of your foot. Buyers, beware: Be sure to read the Birkenstock sizing guide carefully before ordering, as Birkenstock’s size chart tends to run much larger than many other brands.
