According to a review of 19 studies, snacking on gum or mints that contain the natural sweetener xylitol may strengthen your choppers and prevent cavities. The sweetener works by naturally cleaning your teeth while stimulating repair of weak or damaged areas, says dentist Ellie Phillips, author of Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye, who suggests eating or chewing the xylitol-laced munchies after every meal and snack to best protect your pearly whites.
