Want to make your next treadmill workout seem easier? Choose a machine that faces a mirror. In a small study published last year in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, British scientists found that when runners looked at themselves in a mirror as they ran, they were more relaxed, ran with better form and weren't as tired post-run as runners who didn't face a traditional mirror. The researchers think the mirror allowed exercisers to correct their form as they ran and served as a distraction from the fatigue of the workout.
