Angel Cookies
- Yield: 30 pieces
This was my grandmother's recipe. It was a family favorite. My brother always asked Granny to make these cookies when we got together for holidays and birthdays.
Ingredients
- 4-- egg whites
- 1pinch salt
- 2cups powdered sugar
- 1cup chopped dates
- 1cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300F.
- Beat egg whites with salt for 3 minutes. Add powdered sugar and beat 10 minutes. Fold in dates and nuts, and drop by tablespoons on greased and floured cookie sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes. Watch-they burn easily.
Tips From Our Test Kitchen: Be sure to add the dates and nuts the last minute before baking or the cookies will become flat rather than fluffy. Sprinkle colored sugar on top, if desired.
