Paleo Blackened Skirt Steak Salad

1tablespoon smoked paprika
1teaspoon ground cumin
1teaspoon garlic powder
1teaspoon dried oregano
1/2teaspoon salt
1/2teaspoon pepper
1pound skirt steak, trimmed
1teaspoon olive oil
5ounces package spring mix
2medium tomatoes, chopped
4slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2cup thinly sliced red onion
3tablespoons red wine vinegar
3tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2teaspoons Dijon mustard
2cloves garlic, minced
1/4teaspoon salt
1/4teaspoon pepper


  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. For steak: Combine paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper in a small bowl. Brush steak with oil; sprinkle both sides with spice mixture. Place on a broiler pan. Broil 4 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing thinly across the grain.
  3. For salad: Combine spring mix, tomatoes, bacon and onion in a large bowl. Combine vinegar, oil, mustard, garlic, ¼ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper in a small bowl; whisk until well blended. Drizzle over salad mixture, and toss to coat.
  4. Top salad with steak before serving.
