Dried Fruit and Walnut Bread

80grams of each Dried dates, figs, plums and apples
50grams dried cranberries
80milliliters orange juice
50milliliters caramel syrup
150grams California walnuts
125grams soft butter
150grams sugar
2-- sachets vanilla sugar
3-- eggs
250grams flour
1teaspoon baking powder
1teaspoon cinnamon
1/2teaspoon clove powder
1teaspoon lemon zest
1teaspoon orange zest
For decoration
30grams California walnuts
150grams icing sugar
4-5tablespoons orange juice
-- Some slices of figs, stripes of dates and cranberries for decoration


  1. Cut the dried fruits into small pieces and mingle them. Heat up the orange juice and the syrup, pour over fruits and let infuse for 2 hours.
  2. Chop walnuts. Stir in butter till creamy. Add sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs bit by bit and stir in. Mix flour with baking powder and spices, stir in quickly. Mingle with dried fruits and walnuts. Put the dough into a greased cake tin of ca. 25 cm length. Bake in the preheated oven at 150C (gas: 1-2, recirculation air: 130C) for ca. 1 hour and 40 minutes. Let fruit bread cool down. Wrap into aluminum foil and leave it for 1-2 days in a cool place.
  3. Chop walnuts and roast them in a dry pan. Stir icing sugar and orange juice up to a glaze. Take fruit bread out of tin, cover it with glaze and decorate it with walnuts, figs, dates and cranberries.
