Greek Yogurt with Fresh Pears and Toasted Walnuts

You can also serve this simple-yet-sublime concoction for dessert.

Ingredients

1cup water
1cup sugar
1-- cinnamon stick
1-- star anise
4-- peppercorns
2-- pears, peeled, cored and diced
2cups Greek yogurt
1/2cup walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar, spices and pears in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until pears are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Place ½ cup of yogurt into each of 4 serving bowls. Top with pears and a little cooking liquid. Top with walnuts.
