Grilled Beef Steaks with Ancho Chili Rub

Ingredients

2-- beef round (sirloin) tip center steaks, cut 1-inch thick (about 8 ounces each)
-- Salt and pepper
Ancho Chili Rub:
1tablespoon ground ancho chili powder
3-- garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2teaspoons dried oregano leaves
1teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1teaspoon freshly grated orange peel
1/2teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine rub ingredients; press evenly onto beef steaks.
  2. Place steaks on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 11 to 13 minutes (over medium heat on preheated gas grill, covered, 13 to 15 minutes) for medium rare (145F) doneness, turning once; do not overcook. Season with salt and pepper, as desired.
