Shrimp and Grits

Healthy Shrimp and Grits recipe.

2/3cup dry quick-cooking grits
2 1/2cups water
3/4teaspoon Kosher salt
1/2cup milk
2teaspoons butter
1tablespoon butter
1tablespoon olive oil
1/4teaspoon dried oregano
pinch of red pepper flakes
juice of one lemon
1-2tablespoons hot sauce
1/4teaspoon kosher salt
12ounces medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined


To prepare grits:

  1. Combine grits and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.Stir in milk and butter.Continue cooking an additional 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened.

To prepare shrimp:

  1. Combine butter and next 6 ingredients (through salt) in a large non-stick skillet; bring to a boil.
  2. Add shrimp, and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until shrimp are done.
