1/4cup honey
1tablespoon walnut oil or canola oil
2cups Grape Nuts or other "wheat nuggets" cereal
1-1/2cup uncooked oatmeal
1-1/2cup (6 oz.) California walnuts, in halves and large pieces
1/2teaspoon cinnamon
1pinch salt, if desired
1cup chopped dried apricots, apples or pears


  1. Preheat the oven to 300F. In a large bowl, blend the honey and oil together until smooth. 
  2. Add the cereal, oatmeal, walnuts, cinnamon, and salt, if desired, then stir and toss to combine the ingredients.  Spread evenly in a baking pan and bake for about 25 minutes, until lightly browned, stirring 2 or 3 times. 
  3. Cool completely, then stir in the dried fruit. 
  4. Store in a an airtight container. Makes about 6 cups.
