Watermelon Ginger Freezer Sorbet

  • Yield: 8 servings


4cups seedless watermelon, cut into chunks
3/4cup sugar
1tablespoon minced peeled ginger root
1tablespoon lime juice
3/4cup water, apple juice, ginger ale or white grape juice



  1. Place all ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. In a blender or food processor fitted with the metal blade, puree leaving a few pieces (it should not be completely pureed).
  2. Transfer mixture into a metal bowl and freeze about 1 hour until semi-solid. Mix with a wire whisk until smooth. Return to freezer another 30 minutes. Serve in chilled bowls or glasses.
